Today was my first day of school! I never thought I would be able to say that again. After graduating from theater school in 2014, I was sure I was going to become a famous actress and have a fabulous career and several adoring fans by now. As you may have guessed, that is not the case, nor would I want it to be the case at this point. (Read more on the “About” page). Instead, today I took my first step toward a different future as a Holistic Nutritionist.
The Institute of Holistic Nutrition is a small school in a remote building in North Toronto. As I walk up to the building, not 100% sure I know where I’m going, a tall beautiful blonde turns to me with a smile and asks “Do you already go here?”
“First day!” I say, a little startled and unsure.
“Sweet. Me too. Let’s be friends.” says the beautiful blonde, who I later learned was named Jen. Happy to have an immediate pal I was able to dive into the day a little more at ease. Chatting with Jen was incredible. To be able to talk to like-minded people in terms of wellness and nutrition is so invigorating. I’m hoping I can be that person for you. Someone to learn with. Someone to talk about things that you are curious and passionate about with. Someone to confide in.
Now, today was just the orientation. We learned things like how to study more effectively, what the rules and expectations are for each course and who to contact for what. We did some get to know you activities to become comfortable with our classmates. We didn’t get into our course content, which is what I intended to work through with you here day-to-day so that you can learn along with me. We did however get a lot of words of encouragement and inspiration about the path that we have chosen that reinforce the importance of holistic nutrition and the truth that it provides.
